Voice & telephony integration for chatbots: How easy it is for bots to get a voice!

27.08.2021 |

You already use a bot solution for automated customer communication via web, chat or messenger? But your bot still needs a voice to handle the telephony channel as well? The solution is called: TENIOS VoiceBot API.
With our voice gateway, you can connect bot systems via a single request.

Chatbot goes multichannel bot

TENIOS Voice Conversations

Intelligent virtual assistants (IVAs) that answer customer inquiries are an essential part of customer service when it concerns service automation and process optimization. However, if the bot is only used text-based – as a chatbot – its potential is not fully unleashed: With an additional voice channel, bots can also serve voice interfaces and accept telephone inquiries. The TENIOS  VoiceBot API allows any bot platform to be connected and enabled for voice in a quick and easy way.

Voice integration with ONE single request

It couldn’t be easier: The VoiceBot API is built in a way that only a single REST request is needed for the connection. Once this is implemented, the coupled chatbot can act as a voicebot. The telephony connection is established via a phone number or a SIP trunk in the TENIOS NGN.

VoiceBot API

How it works:

Frage 1  A call is incoming to the TENIOS Cloud Communications platform.

Frage 2  The stored routing plan is run through. The “Call Control API” block is integrated in this plan and establishes the connection to the VoiceBot API. With only one request.

Frage 3  The VoiceBot API is used to access the desired TTS/STT provider (Google, Microsoft or Amazon), which handles the speech recognition and speech synthesis.

Frage 4  The connected chatbot platform receives the caller’s converted speech input in text form, processes it, and returns the text-based response to the VoiceBot API. Here, the output is converted back to speech via TTS and sent back to the caller. This process takes place in real time.

Frage 5  Optional: If desired and required, the caller can be transferred to a human live agent using the integrated bot agent handover.
