What is a SIP-Account? The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a network protocol that controls the flow of a communication session between at least two or more participants. A user can login to the TENIOS platform using a SIP end device (hard or soft phone). Incoming calls can be routed to a SIP-Account in the routing plan. Outgoing telephony via a SIP account to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) is only possible if Business Voice is activated for this TENIOS account.
You can define SIP-Accounts, that are used to register with a SIP client (e.g. a SIP soft or hardphone) over the internet. The following example shows how you can register the softphone Zoiper with the TENIOS platform. First you need to add a new SIP account. You can do this in the section SETUP, menu item SIP-Accounts by a clicking the button “+ Add SIP-Account“.
Field | Description |
First Name | The first name of the SIP-Account user. This field is only for information and is not relevant for the registration with a SIP client. |
Last Name | The last name of the SIP-Account user. This field is only for information and is not relevant for the registration with a SIP client. |
User Name | The user name of the SIP-Account. This is the login name which needs to be configured in the SIP client. |
Password | The password of the SIP-Account. This is the password which needs to be configured in the SIP client. |
CallerID | The callerID to be signaled, when dialing out with a SIP-Account. |
Allow outbound calls to the PSTN | This option defines if outbound calls to the PSTN are possible from this SIP-account. This option is only enabled when Business Voice is enabled for this TENIOS account. |
For the registration, only domain, username and password are relevant. The domain has the format <customer_number>@tevox.com. If you don’t know your domain, you can find it in section SETUP, menu SIP-Accounts and check in the caption for “Please register with domain …”.
In zoiper preferences, you can use the Accound wizard to create a new SIP-Account. On the first screen, choose SIP as account type.
Afterwards, please enter user, password and domain.
On the 3rd screen skip auto-detection.
The account is finally created now.
Usually the account registers automatically with TENIOS.
In the customer portal, on the SIP-Accounts Details page, you can check if your SIP client is registered with a click on the button Get Status.
